They are vaguely aware that there is a theological battle between Calvinism and Arminianism today. It is obvious that the battle is going to heat up as Calvinism is gaining strength among serious minded Christians who desire to be exegetical in their approach to Scripture and are tired of the shallow sermons of the typical Arminian evangelical pastor.

Due to an aggressive revival of Calvinism in the 20th century, many Christians in the United States are learning the word “Calvinism” for the first time. They are vaguely aware that there is a theological battle between Calvinism and Arminianism today. Historic Arminianism agrees with Calvinism that fallen man, apart from special grace, cannot give himself life or produce his own faith. The difference lies in what this divine grace does in the human heart, and how it relates to the will of man.
